Terms and Service Agreement

1. Nature of Service & "Best Effort" Clause

Dead Sharp Saw Service (DSSS) specializes in the maintenance, repair, and precision sharpening of chainsaws and outdoor power equipment. Due to the high-stress nature of small engine operation and the varying condition of incoming equipment, all services are performed on a "Best Effort" basis.

While DSSS utilizes professional-grade equipment and mechanical expertise, we do not guarantee that every piece of equipment can be restored to "like-new" condition, particularly in cases of internal engine wear, obsolete parts, or previous improper maintenance. As a small, veteran-owned operation, we prioritize quality and safety above all else.

2. Comprehensive Safety & Liability Release

Chainsaws and power equipment are inherently dangerous.

By engaging our services and submitting equipment for repair, the Customer acknowledges and agrees to the following:

  • Release of Liability: DSSS, its owners, and employees are not liable for any injury, disability, death, or property damage resulting from the operation of equipment once it has been returned to the Customer’s possession.
  • Assumption of Risk: The Customer assumes all risks associated with the use of sharpened chains and modified engines. Sharpened chains are significantly more aggressive than factory-dull chains; handle with extreme caution.
  • Pre-Operation Inspection: It is the sole responsibility of the Customer to perform a "pre-flight" safety check (including chain brake engagement, throttle return, and bar nut tension) before every use. DSSS’s testing at the shop does not substitute for the user’s duty to inspect equipment in the field.

3. Parts, Modifications, and Warranty Policy

As a specialty shop, DSSS often utilizes performance-enhancing aftermarket parts (e.g., Bark Boxes, high-flow air filters, custom bucking dogs) or salvaged vintage components.

  • No Express Warranty: DSSS provides no written or implied warranty on parts or labor beyond the initial testing performed at the time of repair.
  • Aftermarket/Vintage Risks: The Customer acknowledges that aftermarket modifications may void original manufacturer warranties and may increase the mechanical stress on the engine.

4. Abandoned Property

DSSS operates with limited shop space. Customers will be notified via phone, text, or email once service is complete.

  • Forfeiture: Any equipment left for more than 60 days without written communication or full payment will be legally deemed Abandoned Property. DSSS reserves the right to sell or dismantle abandoned equipment to recover costs for labor, parts, and storage.

5. Independent Status & Trademark Disclosure

Dead Sharp Saw Service is an independent repair facility. We are not an authorized dealer, partner, or service center for STIHL®, Husqvarna®, Echo®, or any other Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

The use of brand names, logos, or trademarks is strictly for descriptive purposes to indicate the compatibility of our services and does not imply endorsement by the trademark holders.

6. Payment

  • Payment: Full payment is required at the time of pickup. We do not offer "net-30" or billing terms for individual repairs.
